Stay Alert!

Governor Christie has announced recently that he will NOT be making the legally required payments to public employee pension funds because of a two-plus billion dollar shortfall in the state's budget.  He will not make the required payment in June 2014 nor will he make the contributions he promised in 2011 when a bi-partisan legislature modified the pension plans for present and future employees.  These public employees have faithfully made their required contributions to their pensions consistently.  Governor Christie has gone back on his word and will "break" the law which he brokered and signed.

Members Benefits Online System

Members Benefits Online System or MBOS provides access to your pension and health benefit account information and online applications.  Once enrolled, a retiree can change such things as withholding tax amounts, direct deposit, and change in mailing address or beneficiary information. MBOS is a great alternative to spending unlimited time on the phone with Trenton.

There is a user guide on the state website.  Go to to register for MBOS, but you must also register at the myNewJersey website.  The state site will explain exactly what you must do.  Have your retirement number handy.

New to the state website is Online Guide to Retirement, which explains such information as enrollment in Medicare, employment after retirement and data about federal and state taxes.  Also you are able to go directly to insurance plans provided by the state as well as Express Scripts from the site.
